Welcome to the WAS website

Wellington Astronomical Society is an incorporated society and registered charity for promoting astronomy in and around the Wellington region.

Our next regular meeting will be held on the first Wednesday in March, that is the 7th of March at Space Place/Carter Observatory.  In addition to the usual program we will be having a talk by Dr Bruce Charlier from Victoria University about “Did a supernova trigger the birth of the solar system? Clues from the micro-analysis of space rocks”.  More details about this upcoming meeting will be posted here shorty.

There will be no observation evening at Tawa college this month.  However we are trying to arrange an astrophotography session at the Brooklyn wind turbine.  Details here and on the Facebook page when we know more.

A gentle reminder that our subscription year began in September, so WAS looks forward to receiving your subscription renewal if you haven’t done so already.  Renewal information can be found here.
